Caminhos Cruzados
Teco Cardoso e Ulisses Rocha Crossed Paths of wind and string instruments, this concert is the fluent
encounter of two gifted musicians: the exceptional guitarist Ulisses Rocha and the talented flute and sax player Teco Cardoso, resulting in one of the most creative duet albums of contemporary Brazilian
instrumental music.
The multi-instrumentalist Teco Cardoso plays a wide variation of wind instruments, from “piccolo flute” ( the sharpest of the family) to baritone sax (the deepest of all saxes) and Ulisses Rocha, with his unique guitar playing style reveals in this work his qualities as a composer.
Together they weave a subtle dialogue of textures and melodies in dual solos, “solar duos”, swings, fantasies and improvisations. With a fascinating repertoire including Tom Jobim, Ivan Lins and Egberto Gismonti among others, Teco and Ulisses provide a special coloration to the “Caminhos Cruzados” CD released by Núcleo Contemporâneo in Brazil and simultaneously in the US market by Malandro Records.
