Violeiros do Brasil

Violeiros de diversas regiões do Brasil
Núcleo Contemporâneo releases CD Violeiros do Brasil (Brazil Country Guitar Players), an original edition with important musicians of the country guitar from different regions of Brazil. Live recorded at the Sesc Pompéia Theater between August and September 1997, the CD Violeiros do Brasil presents characters for whom a country guitar is part of day-to-day life, the Masters who enhance the art and the magic of the intimacy with the instrument, popular and religious celebrations traditionally commemorated to the sound of a country guitar. From Paulo Freire – who links the Minas Gerais tradition to the contemporary in the use of the country guitar with instruments such as acoustic bass and the piano – to Zé do Côco do Riachão (a symbol for the Brazilian country guitar, considered a “Country Beethoven” by German critics), passing by Zé Mulato e Cassiano (Sharp Award for Best Country Duet this year), Violeiros do Brasil summarizes the universe of the country guitar. CD Violeiros do Brasil repertoire includes, also, the country guitar played by Roberto Correa, Almir Sater, Ivan Vilela, Renato Andrade, Adelmo Arcoverde, Pereira da Viola, Passoca, Braz da Viola and the São José dos Campos Country Guitar Orchestra, and Tavinho Moura. The CD cover presents a photograph work by Angélica del Nery in Urucuia, Minas Gerais countryside, an important setting for country guitars and for author Guimarães Rosa. Fascinated by the universe of the country since she lived in the interior of Minas Gerais, producer Myriam Taubkin conceived the project. The recording of the disc has been suggested by musician and producer Benjamim Taubkin who recognized the importance of this project and the unique opportunity of gathering musicians from the most distant and diverse regions of Brazil.
