Paths for the dialogue between urban and traditional music in Brazil
The series of concerts will present different strands of contemporary Brazilian music, and featuresing artists whose work has a strong link to the regional identities of the country.
The project arises due totakes place alongside the ISPA (International Society for the Performing Arts) annual seminar, organized this year in São Paulo, which will will bring attract agents and programmers to Brazil from all over the world.
The program intends to show present a sample of this universe, thatwhich seems to us an important way trend within the current Brazilian music.
Every Each night will have a special focus, showing some of these paths.

Antonio Loureiro
The multi-instrumentalist Antonio Loureiro, who has been seeking foris exploring ways of an improvementing of the Brazilian style for the Vibraphone, performs themes from Guinga or his own compositions.
Benjamin Taubkin e Grupo de Música Abaçaí
Benjamim Taubkin and Núcleo de Música do Abaçaí present compositions, adaptations, and arrangements inspired by regional music from all over Brazil. The project aims to promote a new perspective on traditional Brasilian Brazilian culture.
Projeto “Violeiros do Brasil” – Ivan Vilela e Paulo Freire
Bringing together the traditional “viola” with audacious melodies and combinations with different instruments, the project will present two great “violeiros” in a visual contemporary scenario merging combining originality and technology.

The ensambles Cachuera! and A quatro Vozes together with the song-writer Daniel Reverendo and the acoustic guitar player Marquinho Mendonça will be united to perform jongo, batuque and samba, south-east afro Brazilian musical traditions.

The body percussion group Barbatuques have develops developed an artistic work piece based on the exploration of various sounds that can be produced by the human body. The result is a “circle orchestra” where all musicians play and improvise on the same instrument.

Fernando Sardo
Researcher and musical instruments’ builder from diverse periods, the multi-instrumentist Fernando Sardo integrates music, luthiery and visual arts. His aim is to bring a wide range of new timbres to harmony, in finding a balance between the raw material and the sound refinement.
Luisa Maita
In her first solo effort as singer and composer, Luisa unites combines her beautiful voice and contemporary lyrics. The result goes beyond the samba and MPB genres, seeking reaching for a diverse different aesthetic to the POP in the Brazilian music.
Rodrigo Campos
The singer, multi-instrumentalist and composer carries all the afro Brazilian tradition of the “sambistas”, revealing songs with rhythm and tenderness, which can could be identified described as a kind of novel biography biographical novelwhose narrative takes place in São Mateus – a neighbourhood in São Paulo.

Freegideira is a band which mixes brazilian Brazilian music, eletronic beats, hip-hop, freestyle, rock and other kinds of music. The performance is essentially improvised, and most of the time the audience is kept in a festive mood and on its feet.
